Have you lost your life for Christ's sake?
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Matthew.10.39
BQ: If this is not your life, then whose is it?
a lot of people die in this world for the so called sake of religion. what happened to ¨thou shalt not kill¨?
is that really what Jesus or God wants???
your life is yours and yours alone. live it without guilt
I can say 'quite simply' but that cannot be said because
for someone who does not do this, or believe it,
it cannot be simple at all.
Whoever fits into the world system, ie. FINDS their life, starts
to covet it, live unto themselves, which people do, it's all
they know or want, then this will end up in loss.
It might be loss of dignity, or loss of self-respect.
We have to take other scriptures & understandings here...
the bible teaches, and some people have experienced
the reality of satan, and so people aren't just 'free' to
do whatever. They get entrapped.Whether it is
money, or family matters, or work, or even the tangle
of thoughts clashing in the mind, people don't have peace.
Not inner peace, not loving peace which 'passes all understanding'.
But the person who gives all that up (ie. LOSES their life (their worldly
pursuits, their strivings, their ME centered approach' ...they find it,
they then have it.
You are well aware of the paradoxical nature of things.
Christianity is the paradox of paradoxes.
And life itself is also.In the 7 laws of money, a great book
it explains that if someone REALLY wants money, it will
be elusive to them, but if they go after other things, money
will often chase after them.Same with male/female courtings
in the world.Let the female know you are interested and
then she is not interested.Same sort of thing.Only in
Christianity, it is not perverse.I'll leave you sort that out,
as you are well able to come up with that.
I used to live lavish life in Saudi Arabia till end of 1997. I had a lover, a job, wealth, car, friends & contacts, family and many things more. I lost them all for the sake of Jesus Christ as the Saudi Customs were really a terrible people to deal with.
When I visited Saudi Arabia in 2007, I was surprised to see the huge difference my sacrifice (and certainly sacrifices of others) had created in that Draconian country. Now I live a life of an animal, hardly able to survive with a $ to $ salary of 1/21 and getting less by the day due to devaluation of Rupee.
But I found salvation and would never go back to that useless life in Saudi Arabia where I'll be treated like an animal in a golden cage.
.
I lost my life for Christ's sake once. Then I discovered the only person I was giving my life to was a fat preacher who enjoyed a comfortable tax exempt status, and made a steady income off my good hearted giving. I was persuaded that Christ had paid the ultimate price for my salvation, but discovered salvation isn't free. I discovered I was required to shell out at least 10% of my hard income for God's "kingdom". I was sent out every weekend to "win" more souls for this mythical Christ person, and if I didn't get anyone "saved" my own salvation would be questioned by my "wonderful" "loving" pastor who never went out evangelizing himself. I played guitar on the praise team never getting paid for my talent while other musicians in other places like night clubs and even other churches actually made money for their services. While I was continuously struggling financially even while the economy was good at that time my "loving" shepperd always had a new car, his kids had new cars, his wife and kids were brats, they lived in a large home and all this was completely paid for by the people's giving. And if we didn't give at least our tithe our salvation was always openly held in question. So yes I lost my life for Christ's sake for about 13 years only to discover that Christ is a myth and religion is a multimillion dollar industry used to prey on people's good nature and also their fears.

Personal experience!
IMHO
Jesus is talking about living too much of a materialistic life shall make one loose the spiritual life and forsaking a materialistic life to gain a spiritual one.
Q Define life and and I could give a better answer (content / context) but I can say for certainty that I have lost nothing for Christ's sake (was that intended to be a statement of exasperation...?).
BA As above define the context of life but on the most mundane level and bringing out the worst in me:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lcy7g05Ab…
Yup.
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
